This term in Year 3 our topic is “Coast” Within this topic the children will explore environmental changes to a variety of coastlines and the impacts of human intervention. They will also explore a tropical environment and research the impact that natural disasters have on the coast, such as the tsunami. The children will have the opportunity to research, design, plan and make their own treasure chest as part of design technology. They will also take a trip out to our coast, carrying out scientific investigation using quadrants. Children will develop their cross-curricular literacy skills by writing an informative article about environmental change.
As part of ICT this term we will be collecting information in questionnaires and presenting this information as pie charts, bar graphs and line graphs. In the second half of the term we will use modelling effects on screen.
Our Science topic this next half term is ‘Teeth and Eating. Children will learn what food groups should make up a healthy diet. They will also learn about the different types of teeth and their function.
P.E. lessons will be on a Tuesday and Thursday this term, so please ensure that children have both their outdoor and indoor kit in school at all times.

Also, please remember that children will be asked to remove all jewellery (including earrings) for health and safety purposes. Please remind your child to change their reading book roughly twice a week. Children are given the opportunity to change their reading books each day.Homework is handed out on a Friday to be returned by the following Tuesday (to allow time for it to be marked).
Spellings are given out on a Monday and are tested on a Friday.
